Marc Bolan Memorial

This week I took a trip to Golders Green Crematorium to tick a long overdue item off my “to do” list.

I have always been fascinated by Marc Bolan and T Rex and love their music. I’m not quite sure why I’m so drawn to him as he died before I was born but I can’t help but want to learn about him.  I have read books about him and even shed a tear when I got to the parts about the car crash that tragically took him from us.

This week I saw on twitter a photo of someone visiting his memorial bench and as I had planned the day off work I took the opportunity to see it for myself, and I’m glad I did.

I sat on the bench, took out my Ipod and listened to T Rex songs. It felt as though he was sitting on the bench next to me.

I’m really glad that people still care enough to remember him and made the effort to create a memorial that people like me can visit and pay my respects to someone whose music never fails to make me happy.

So thanks for a lovely afternoon Marc and thanks to the wonderful fans who made it possible.
