Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hood

On World Book Day this year we had a nice lady come into our offices with a table full of free books. My colleagues and I went along and picked a book each with the intention of rotating them between us.

I picked this book out for a colleague but she wanted to swap with my choice so I ended up with my second choice book.

I wasn’t sure it would appeal to me but I really enjoyed it. If you enjoy Game of Thrones then I think this book will appeal to you.

The characters are rich, the royal family and noble houses are interesting in their varied histories. As the title suggests one unlikely character is trained in the art of being an assassin but not in a way that you would assume.

It is difficult for me to say too much about the story, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who reads it. I will say it is full of action, suspense, treachery, challenged loyalty and of course a hint of malice and murder but it might not be all as you suspect.

I’m going to be on the lookout for the next two books in the series now so that I can see how it all ends.

It turned out to be a very good holiday read. In the true spirit of World Book Day I signed my copy and left it behind at our hotel. I hope whoever picks it up next enjoys it as much as I did.

I haven’t read Game of Thrones yet but I might read this book 🙂 And how nice of you to leave the book for someone else to read!

    1. I like to share books around as people who enjoy them tend to buy their own copies and share themselves and so it all goes on!

My partner has been hounding me to read these books, it looks great! And I love these covers!

    1. There seems to be a lot of different cover options on google search for the books. I chose the book based on the cover which intrigued me.
